Who am I?

Hey, I am Fredi Gebhardt, a Gypsyjazz guitarist based in Berlin. I am touring with my main trio, the Beyond Swing Trio, with Sven Jungbeck and Volker Kamp. In addition to that I had the chance to play with many great players already like Joscho Stephan, Wawau Adler, Costel Nitescu, Olli Soikkeli. I play this style since I was 16 years old and now I want to share my knowledge with you!

The good thing is, you only need a guitar and motivation! If you are a beginner, you don't necessarily need a proper gypsy jazz guitar, you can also play on a common western guitar or even on a nylon string guitar.

Gypsy jazz, also known as jazz manouche, is a style of jazz music that originated in the 1930s in France. It was pioneered by Django Reinhardt, a guitarist, and blends American swing jazz with traditional gypsy music and French musette. The genre is known for its acoustic instrumentation, particularly guitars, violin, and bass, and its fast-paced, virtuosic guitar playing using rhythmic strumming called la pompe to drive the beat.

Do I need a gypsy jazz guitar?

No, you don't need a gypsy jazz guitar. You can play this style on any acoustic guitar . But for the typical sound it is good to use steel strings and a thick plek. If you already learned some basics of the style and want to continue learning more about gypsyjazz, I recommend you to buy a proper gypsy jazz guitar.

Which subscription plans are available?

The learning timeline varies for each student, but with regular practice, you can expect to play basic rhythm patterns within a few months. Mastering advanced techniques and soloing can take several years. The key is consistent practice and following a structured learning path, which our courses provide.
